Wreaths Across America

For Wreaths Across America, it’s not Christmas in July -- instead, it’s “Giving in July.”

The national nonprofit, whose mission is to remember, honor and teach, is known for placing thousands of fresh wreaths on veterans gravesites in cemeteries around the country in December. It will host its virtual “Giving in July” concert on its Facebook page Sunday.

“WAA recognizes Giving in July as opposed to the well-known Christmas in July because our program works with local sponsorship groups in communities across the country who are giving back, year-round,” WAA Executive Director Karen Worcester said in a statement.

2 million volunteers laid wreaths for Wreaths Across America this past weekend

Performers will include but are not limited to Craig Morgan, Chris Roberts, Lindsay Lawler, Mark Wills, The Bellamy Brother, The Don Campbell Band, Darryl Worley and Six-String Soldiers.

The event will include a special message from Operation Red Wing lone survivor, retired Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell and his wife  Melanie from their home in Texas.

Local volunteers from around the country will also make appearances during the virtual concert. Sponsorship groups from around the country who team with WAA to raise money and awareness in their communities will also be highlighted during the event.

Wreaths Across America keeps growing - even outside of America

The groups are part of a program where $5 of each $15 wreath sponsorship goes back to them to be used locally. Through this program, WAA has given back more than $12 million in local contributions over the last 11 years.

“The local programs that benefit from this fundraising are oftentimes the bridge to keeping community-based veteran initiatives going in small towns," added Worcester. “Through your support of WAA now, both nationally and on the local level, you are not only placing a wreath for a hero in December but helping give back to these community efforts who need support.”

The concert begins at 7 p.m. ET. All donations received from this event will be used to sponsor fresh, balsam veterans’ wreaths to be placed on veterans' gravesites around the country.
