Woman dies by apparent suicide at Arlington National Cemetery

Medics from Arlington County Fire Department reported to an apparent suicide on Monday at Arlington National Cemetery. 

The incident took place in the western portion of the cemetery near the Confederate Memorial — yards from Joint Base Henderson Hall-Fort Myer. Emergency personnel from the base also reported to the incident.

It has not been released whether the female victim was affiliated with the military. 

"We are deeply saddened to learn about the apparent suicide in the cemetery earlier today," Arlington National Cemetery spokesman Timothy Lawson said Monday. "Our thoughts are with the family at this time."
