More than 14,000 free tickets to veterans and active-duty service members will be given away for “First Man” at more than 500 Regal movie theater locations nationwide.

The first 25 service members or veterans with valid, government-issued ID will receive free admission to the 7:00 pm preview screening —the first show—at each Regal location on Thursday, October 11th. They can only be picked up at the box office beginning at 9:00 am on the day of the showing.

“First Man,” starring Ryan Gosling as the famed astronaut and former Naval aviator Neil Armstrong, will hit theaters across the country the next day.

The film caught some flack in August with some saying the movie is unpatriotic due to the absence of a flag-planting scene. Armstrong’s children issued a statement defending the movie.

“We do not feel this movie is anti-American in the slightest,” said Armstrong’s sons, Rick and Mark, as well as the author of First Man, James Hansen. “Quite the opposite. But don’t take our word for it. We’d encourage everyone to go see this remarkable film and see for themselves.”

Only one free ticket will be given per ID.
