Cheers erupted and hugs were shared when students at Northridge High School in Layton, Utah got a surprise visit from their coach and favorite teacher, Captain Andrew Olson, who had been deployed in Afghanistan.

Olson, who is in the Utah National Guard, coaches football and basketball, and teaches history.  He had been in Afghanistan for four months but due to troop reductions was able to return home early.

His wife, Tina Olson was overjoyed for both the students and her family.

“It has been amazing having him home again,” she said. “We stay up late talking all night, he’ll spend hours playing cars and basketball with our sons and we now appreciate those things more. I’m just grateful to have him home safely.
