US service member killed in Afghanistan

A U.S. service member was killed in action Monday in Afghanistan according to military officials. 

The individual was serving in support of the NATO-led Resolute Support mission. This is the 17th U.S. service member to be killed in action the country this year.

In accordance with Department of Defense policy, the identity of the service member will be held until 24 hours after the next of kin is notified.
