TRICARE is temporarily waiving provider referrals for Prime beneficiaries in four southeastern states due to Hurricane Dorian.

If you have TRICARE Prime and live in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia or Florida, that means you don't need to get a referral from your primary care provider in order to see another provider through Oct. 1.

Many of the military hospitals and clinics in these states are closed or operating on a limited capacity, so patients should check the status of their preferred hospital or clinic before going.

All TRICARE beneficiaries not on active duty can receive urgent care from any TRICARE-authorized urgent care center or provider without a referral.

Also because of the hurricane, TRICARE beneficiaries in the following locations can receive emergency refills of their prescriptions through Sept. 9:

  • North Carolina
  • South Carolina
  • Puerto Rico
  • U.S. Virgin Islands
  • These 12 Georgia counties – Brantley, Bryan, Camden, Charlton, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, Pierce, and Wayne

To receive an emergency refill, take your prescription bottle to any TRICARE retail network pharmacy.
