Whether you love watching military movies (or you don't) or you just enjoy critiquing them, it's pretty obvious the space of military-themed films with female leads is seriously lacking. But, with March being Women's History Month, it's only right to highlight some of the top films with servicewomen taking center stage.

G.I. Jane

Directed by Ridley Scott, this film showcases how pressure from military talking heads at the captiol sway the potential U.S. Navy secretary to fully integrate the service. As a result, Lieutenant Jordan O'Neil, played by Demi Moore, is offered a chance to be the first female trainee in the U.S. Navy's SEAL/C.R.T. selection program.

Serving in Silence

Based on a true story, this film by Jeff Bleckner, chronicles the involuntary discharge of Col. Margarethe Cammermeyer, played by Glen Close, after she admitted she was lesbian.

Courage Under fire

With big Hollywood names like Denzel Washington and Meg Ryan, this film, directed by Edward Zwick, follows the investigation of a female chopper commander, Captain Karen Walden (played by Ryan) who was KIA during a MEDEVAC mission but soon finds out the details of the investigation aren't exactly lining up.

Zero Dark Thirty

Although she's not in the military, in this film directed by Kathryn Bigelow, Maya, a CIA analyst is a central part of the mission to hunt down al-Qaeda terrorist leader, Osama bin Laden, after the September 11 attacks.

Private Benjamin

Directed by Howard Zieff, this military comedy follows Judy Benjamin, played by the notable Goldie Hawn, and her interesting journey to enlist the U.S. Army.

Megan Leavey

Though there is some controversy about the validty of some of the events Leavey experienced overseas, the movie, directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite, is based on the true story of U.S. Marine Corporal Megan Leavey and her relationship with her military working dog, Rex, during their deployments to Iraq.

Eye in The Sky

Col. Katherine Powell, played by Helen Mirren, is the OIC of a mission to capture terrorist in Kenya in this film directed by Gavin Hood.

A Few Good Men

Demi Moore is back again in this film directed by Rob Reiner. Lawyer Lt. Daniel Kaffee ( played by Tom Cruise), is handling accusations of Marines killing another fellow Marine at Guantanamo Bay. Lt. Cdr. JoAnne Galloway, played by Moore, works to prove Kaffee that the orders to murder the Marine were sent down their COC.
