Who doesn’t love presents?

Subscription company MilSO Box helps to make it the holiday season year-round by delivering a box full of goodies each month to military significant others (MilSos) holding down the home front while their service member is deployed.

“Each month is a different theme,” said company founder Lindsay Hinger. “Most of the things I do are really custom work to fit these themes. It’s sometimes difficult to have a theme and incorporate military life.”

Hinger is an Air Force veteran who decided in 2016 that she wanted to begin a subscription box company because she liked the business model.

“But, I didn’t know who they were going to be for,” she said.

Hinger was talking with her best friend, an Army spouse whose husband was training for deployment when inspiration struck.

“I was empathizing with her and it was like ta-da, these are the people who need a little joy, a little spark in their life every month,” she said.

Each month’s MilSO Box features four to seven gifts. Hinger said even though the items are a surprise, each subscriber can expect a mix of bath and beauty products, home décor items, accessories and other unique gifts with a patriotic twist. Most of the gifts are sourced from other veteran-owned businesses.

“What was supposed to be a gift for women has now come full circle and helps a lot of other people as well,” she said.

MilSO boxes are available with a month-to-month, 3-month, 6-month and 12-month subscription.

“It’s really important to be convenient,” Hinger continued. “You can update your address at log-in.  Everything we do is really with the military lifestyle in mind.”

Hinger also began Gifting With Valor last summer.

“I create custom gift boxes for organizations and businesses that are very military oriented so they can give these gift boxes to their clients and their clients can see they put their money where their mouth is when it comes to supports veteran entrepreneurs,” she said.
