A virtual conference will advocate for better health care benefits for veterans exposed to burn pits during their military service.

Grunt Style and Burn Pits 360 will host the Military Toxic Exposure Virtual Conference on Aug. 28 beginning at 6 p.m. CST.

"Burn pits are commonly used by the government to destroy hazardous materials such as batteries, rubber, chemicals, ammunition as well as medical and human waste," said Tim Jensen, chief strategy 0ffficer for Grunt Style in a release. "The proximity of these burn pits to military bases left many soldiers vulnerable to their emissions, which caused devastating health conditions and thousands of deaths.”

Jensen said the conference aims to inform veterans of new legislation being proposed to help them secure the health benefits they and their families deserve.

Among those set to appear at the conference are Jon Stewart and former VA Secretary David Shulkin.
