GameStop, Call of Duty Endowment launch 'Give Back to the Brave' to help veterans find jobs

This month, GameStop is partnering with the Call of Duty Endowment to donate money to help veterans find jobs. 

Every year, hundreds of thousands of service members transition out of the military and start their search for a civilian job. So GameStop is working with a nonprofit founded by the CEO of Call of Duty-maker Activision Blizzard, to raise money to help.

Throughout July, GameStop is offering its customers three ways to donate to the "Give Back to the Brave" campaign: 

  • At checkout, you can give $1 or more of your purchase to the cause. Rewards members get triple rewards points for their donations.
  • Members can donate reward points in the PowerUp Rewards Center. 
  • Trade in for charity: Customers can donate up to 100 percent of the trade-in value to the cause for video game hardware, software, accessories or other consumer electronics to GameStop locations. 

“We are appreciative of what these brave women and men do for our country. Our collaboration with the Endowment and our partners at Activision Blizzard is very important to us as we help drive awareness of the value veterans bring not only to our country but to the civilian workplace,” said Frank Hamlin, executive vice president and chief customer officer for GameStop.

Since 2012, GameStop and the Endowment have been partnering to raise money for veterans. This is the eighth year of the partnership that GameStop says has led to almost 8,000 veterans being "placed in quality careers" most of whom are post-9/11 enlisted men and women. 

“Every $521 dollars raised for the Endowment puts one veteran back to work — that’s 1/6 the cost per placement of federal government efforts. This partnership makes a huge difference for veterans and for each of their families,” said Dan Goldenberg, executive director for the Endowment. “With GameStop’s incredible support, we’re more confident than ever that we'll reach our  goal of placing 100,000 veterans by 2024.”
