 Housing for Wounded, Ill and Injured

Building Homes for Heroes Since 2006, this organization has gifted mortgage-free homes that meet the needs of the men and women who have selflessly served our country. Here's a story of one veteran they helped Wounded Air Force veteran gifted free home

Fisher House provides comfort homes for military and veteran families while a loved one is receiving treatment.

Gary Sinise Foundation provides specially adapted smart homes to America's most severely wounded heroes and their families as well as home modifications, mobility devices, and adapted vehicles to injured, wounded, ill, and/or aging heroes from all military conflicts.

Helping a Hero builds specially adapted homes for severely injured military personnel and their families and adapt these homes for the specific injuries and challenges of our wounded heroes.  They also place these homes in planned communities or master planned communities so they have neighbors who will also support them in their recovery and who are not living month to month.

Home Depot Foundation The Home Depot Foundation’s Veteran Housing Grants Program awards grants to nonprofit organizations for the new construction or rehabilitation of permanent supportive housing and transitional facilities for veterans. Awards typically range from $100,000 to $500,000.  New Year, New House: Veteran gets much needed total home restoration

Homes for our Troops promises to help catastrophically wounded service members and their families through donations of money, building materials and professional labor and then coordinating the process of building a new home or adapting an existing home for handicapped accessibility.

Jared Allen's Home 4 Wounded Warriors raises money to build and remodel handicap accessible homes to suit the individual needs of injured veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Military Missions in Action Operation Building Hope Program provides home modification services to ensure that veterans with disabilities can live independently in a fully-accessible home.

Military Warriors Support Foundation Homes4WoundedHeroes - Military Warriors Support Foundation awards mortgage-free homes to wounded heroes injured during combat in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Moonlight Fund offers home modifications to handicapped and wheelchair bound burn survivors.

Operation Finally Home provides custom-built, mortgage free homes to America’s military heroes and the widows of the fallen.

Operation Forever Free Backed by men and women in the home-building industry, the directors of this fund review requests on a case-by-case basis, building and adapting homes when time and resources permit.

Purple Heart Homes says it provides — “at little or no cost” to selected wounded veterans — construction solutions that create injury specific, barrier free-living environments.

Rebuilding Together  says it fills the gaps in modifications and repair services that retired and active service men and women struggle to meet — striving to provide safe and accessible housing for all low-income veterans.

VA Housing Grants  VA provides grants to service members and veterans with certain permanent and total service-connected disabilities to help purchase or construct an adapted home, or modify an existing home to accommodate a disability.

Veterans Rebuilding Life Provides assisted living-homes for severely disabled American veterans, utilizing fundraising events to pay for the cost of construction.

 

Homelessness

Arthur B. Huot House provides efficiency apartments and support programs for  homeless veterans living in Maine.

Easter Seals  works to get veterans off the street by enrolling them in employment and job training programs 

Home of The Brave aims to reduce veteran homelessness by providing affordable housing, food, and employment resources to veterans in the DMV area.

Homes for The Brave provides housing for veterans in the Connecticut area.

US Department of Veterans Affairs - Housing Assistance  collaborative effort between VA and Housing and Urban Development to provide housing for veterans.

Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing Initiative combines Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) rental assistance for homeless Veterans with case management and clinical services provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
