It’s one thing to watch your favorite NFL team from your couch or the stands but what if you had the opportunity to work for one?

While the athletes may be front and center, there are a lot of people behind the scenes that make NFL teams run smoothly. From the communications department, equipment managers, and event social media coordinators, the positions for a career in sports are endless and FedEx wants to give veterans the chance to experience it.

The FedEx Football Fellowship, in partnership with USO Pathfinder, is offering four veterans  the “once-in-a-lifetime” career experience of working with either the Washington Redskins or the Tennessee Titans.

“FedEx is committed to helping veterans, and other underserved groups, acquire skills and education that serve as pathways to meaningful employment. The FedEx Football Fellowship delivers on that priority and continues our important relationship with the USO, ” said Patrick Fitzgerald, senior vice president, Integrated Marketing and Communications at FedEx.

The 12-week fellowship will show veterans how various sectors within the team work. If chosen as a fellow for the Titans, the focus is centered on aspects of stadium operations and football administration. You'll rotate through three departments: Stadium Conversation Crew, Community Relations Assistance, and Markering & Sponsorship Assistant.

The football fellow for with the Redksins will rotate in three departments from September through November, on the Community Relations/Charitable Foundation Team, Partnership Marketing team and Operations team.

To be eligible, veterans have to be part of the USO Pathfinder program, which helps transitioning service members with resources and networks to succeed as a civilian. To find the location of the USO Pathfinder nearest you, click here.

For those selected, FedEx Fellows will begin their experience at the start of the 2018-19 NFL season, so make sure to send in your application sooner, rather than later. The deadline for the Titans is Friday, August 3 and applications for the Redskins will be accepted until Friday, August 10.

If you’re located in the Nashville or D.C./Baltimore area, you can send an email to [email protected] for more information about the program and how you can apply.
