Our Employer of the Week series features one company each week that has made a commitment to hiring and supporting veterans. This week’s employer is Plumlee & Associates.

Plumlee & Associates is a veteran-owned executive search firm that was founded in 2012 and has grown quickly since. The firm works with experienced business partners and established companies to place individuals in senior staff, middle management, and executive level positions. Plumlee offers military leadership development programs and career coaching and transition services to help veterans start a civilian career.

Plumlee & Associates has assisted hundreds of military veterans during their transition to the private sector and educated numerous employers on the value of military hiring. The firm's founder, Martin Plumlee, has worked in military recruiting for over a decade.

"This is something I did years ago so I'm going back to my roots of recruiting," said Plumlee. "We're working with Fortune 1000 companies and large privately held companies that want to hire military veterans for any number of jobs — project management, program management, operation, supervision."

Plumlee also offers a number of workshops and one-on-one coaching for veterans seeking jobs. And, if Plumlee successfully places you in a new position, portions of the cost of those programs are reimbursed.

"We work with veterans one-on-one and provide coaching at prices well below the national average. And if we place you, we give you back half of the program fee. If you attend our workshops, we'll refund your entire workshop fee if we're able to place you," Plumlee said. "We want to recognize our brothers and sisters in uniform and say that we're here to help. We're here to serve."

As an Army veteran, Plumlee knows both how hard the transition can be and how rewarding a good first job placement can be — for veterans and employers.

"At the end of the day, veterans — men and women — have a lot to offer the business world," Plumlee said. "I know the transition is hard. It's not hard for everyone, but it's hard for a certain number of my brothers and sisters in uniform."
