Our Employer of the Week series features one company each week that has made a commitment to hiring and supporting veterans. This week’s employer is CACI.

CACI provides information solutions and services in support of national security missions for Intelligence, Defense, and Federal Civilian customers. With its $4.7 billion annual revenue, CACI's  20,000 employees worldwide help clients safeguard national security, keep the Armed Forces equipped, and modernize the government to more efficiently meet national challenges. And 38 percent of those 20,000 employees are veterans. 

"Both internally and externally, the overarching element of our program is really our culture. CACI values veterans," said Gary Patton, vice president and director of the Military and Veterans Affairs program. "It's in our DNA. It's been part of our culture since our founding in 1962. It starts at the top and works its way all through the ranks of our company."

Patton served in the U.S. Army for 35 years before coming to CACI — and now he works to help other veterans do the same. More than one in three CACI employees is either a veteran or in the reserves. And 9 percent of the workforce is comprised of disabled veterans.

"We value veterans and the leadership they bring to our company - the training, the discipline, the values, the work ethic. And in many cases the security clearance and the client and mission familiarity," Patton said. 

CACI offers several programs and resources to help veterans find the right career fit in the civilian world. Their Continuing Your Mission resources help service members translate military skills to the civilian sector, and the Military Veteran Advocates (MVA) team, composed of retired Army and Air Force veterans, uses its combined 63+ years of military experience to provide one-on-one assistance to military veterans.

During the last fiscal year, CACI hired a record number of 2,428 veterans — 47 percent of all new hires. Moving forward, they only hope to increase that number.
