D.C. veterans have gained a two-wheeled perk.

The D.C. Mayor's Office of Veterans Affairs (MOVA) has partnered with Capital Bikeshare’s Community Partner Program to provide D.C. veterans a free annual Bikeshare membership.

“This program is about offering our veterans, especially our student veterans who are often on a tight budget, another affordable option for moving around DC,” MOVA Director Elliot Tommingo said. “As we continue creating new pathways to the middle class for District veterans, we are very focused on putting in place initiatives that expand access to the many opportunities that exist within our city.”

Veterans can sign up for their free one-year membership at the MOVA Office with proof of veteran status and D.C. residency.

When registered, veterans will receive an access key for Capital Bikeshare's 4,300 bicycles, a Bikeshare location map to more than their 500 stations across DC, Virginia, and Maryland, and a complimentary bike helmet.

MOVA's Office is located at 441 4th ST NW (Suite 707N) and is accessible on the Red Line at Judiciary Square
